A PLACE FOR NEW MODES OF LIVING IN FINIKE

This Architectural Design Studio VIII focuses on making a research by design process of designing “A Place for New Modes of Living in Finike“ questioning possible new modes of living which can generate in Finike. Finike is a small town of Antalya, located on the lower skirts of Toros Mountains, better known with its oranges and other citrus fruits grown and vast amount of greenhouses on the very fertile plain irrigated by special streams for the region. The research is expected to be centered on reading and understanding the urban/rural conditions of this unique landscape as well as building questions on the borders of being local/tourist, new nomads, public life with a critical exploration of today. The ontologies to be searched are related with the tectonics and technologies of the forms of the spatialities of the new modes of living. 

“A Place for New Modes of Living” investigates a possible place for locals, newcomers and temporarily living people in the town making discussions on accommodation, dwelling, tourism and production. The project is expected to include a public content from which the town can benefit.
